Wednesday 1st April 2020
Join Alexandra Epps, City of London Guide and Arts Society lecturer, for a fascinating stroll through the square mile of the City of London to explore some of the beautiful stained-glass within some of Sir Cristopher Wren’s historic churches. Discover the magical qualities of both old and post-war stained glass and experience the pure colour, intrinsic spirituality and overall radiant visual beauty from the creations by a series of remarkable artists.
Members will need to make their own way to the start of the walk in London. Refreshments are not provided, but there are many cafés, tea shops and restaurants in the vicinity. The walk duration is usually 1.5-2 hrs maximum.
Meet at 1.45pm for a prompt 2.00pm start outside Guildhall Art Gallery in Guildhall Yard, London EC2V 7HH.
In deciding whether to join this day trip, members must consider that there is a significant amount of walking to be undertaken and should not take any risks with their mobility. The walk also requires the hire of headsets – this minimises disturbance to any worshippers already in the churches and allows members to hear our guide clearly.
Please note that once a booking has been made a payment has been received, no refund will be made in the event of cancellation, unless the place has been filled by another person.
The total cost is £25.00 (includes headset hire) per person. Due to the maximum limit of only 20 places, only members will be accepted.
Please contact our Membership Secretary on 07845 206385 or email for more details and to book your place.
